Have you been diagnosed with endometriosis or adenomyosis,
are you wondering if massage can help?
Research into Advanced Clinical Massage and Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
Both endometriosis and adenomyosis both can be debilitating diseases, with endometriosis affecting an estimated 10% of the global population, and ademonyosis and estimated 20%. Despite the prevalence of both diseases, multiple studies have found that diagnosis can often take years, misdiagnosis is common and the journey to find effective treatment can be long, as these diseases are poorly understood, underfunded and under researched.
Once diagnosed, the recommended primary treatment options for endometriosis and adenomyosis include hormonal treatment, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics, along with surgery to treat and remove endometriosis. Due to surgical risks associated with treating adenomyosis non-surgical options are preferable, with the last treatment option remains as a hysterectomy. There is no cure for either conditions and the main objectives of treatment are to reduce pain, delay reoccurrence and preserve/restore fertility. It is common for women to undergo multiple surgeries, and a majority have take one or more hormonal therapy. Despite medical interventions, due to the complex nature of these diseases, many women’s symptoms persist.
Limited research has been carried out to evaluate the effects of massage measuring pain and health related quality of life in women with endometriosis and adenomyosis, my recent study therefore seeked to understand if The Jing Method™ of advanced clinical massage could be a viable option to the current standard medical treatments aiming to reduce pain and improve quality of life in women with endometriosis and adenomyosis.
I’m pleased to say, in my recent study of 9 participants, we saw positive improvements across all outcome measures, positively impacting pain, and improving quality of life in women with endometriosis and adenomyosis. With mean pain scores showing a 36% decrease from week 1 to 12, and with measures showing further improvements at week 16 validating short term lasting effect of The Jing Method™ of advanced clinical massage on endometriosis and adenomyosis.
This I feel is just the start of the journey, I’m hoping to share this far and wide, and further validate my finding with a larger study. Plans a afoot to spread the word, funding is needed, and hopefully more women can experience the potential postive impact massage can have, not just as a luxury but as part of a critical path to managing these debilitating conditions.
