What should I expect during my treatment?
Upon arrival your temperature will be taken to ensure you are well enough for your treatment. If it’s your first treatment we will run through a consultation to find out how the treatment can be tailored to your needs. I will then explain the treatment and how you should make yourself comfortable on the bed, before leaving the room so you can get undressed. Once the treatment has ended, I will leave the room once again for you to gently get up and get dressed. Once you are dressed, I will give you some aftercare advice to take home, to maximise the treatment benefits.
Do I need to get fully undressed?
For Thai massage it’s advised to arrive in comfortable light loose-fitting clothes as this treatment is given fully dressed. For body massage you will undress down to your knickers or boxers, on occasion you may be advised to undress fully so I can work effectively into the hips. Throughout your treatment your dignity and comfort is very important to me and you will be draped with towels at all times.
Will my massage be painful?
Your massage should never be painful, if I work over trigger points (knots) this can be a little uncomfortable as I work to release them, however if your maximum pain threshold if 10 I never want to be working above 7.
How can I pay?
Cash or Card, whichever is most convenient for you.
I need to cancel my appointment, what’s the cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your appointment please get in touch and cancel with at least 24 hrs notice, appointments cancelled within 24hrs will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you could please bring a facemask with you (If you don’t have one I have a small number of disposable facemasks available) and a bottle of water.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose comfortable clothing if you have booked in for a Thai massage, otherwise you can wear what your like, although it’s nice to pop on comfortable clothing after having a massage.
All jewellery will need to be removed for your massage so you may wish to leave this at home.
How will I feel after my treatment?
Most people feel very relaxed and feel a sense of ease and release of aches and niggles. Some feel energised with a new sense of self-awareness. If you have received a deep massage you may feel a little sure the next day, a nice soak in a bath, or a hot shower can help this.
After your treatment you should increase your water intake slightly, an extra glass or two, to keep hydrated and healthy.
When should I not get a massage?
If you are feeling at all groggy with a cold/flu or fever, or if you have a contagious skin infection you should not book a massage until you are feeling better. There are other conditions that may limit your ability to receive a massage, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.
I’m pregnant, can I still have a massage?
Once you are past your first trimester you can receive a massage, please let me know prior to arriving to your treatment.
How often should I have a massage?
There is no set rule as to how often you should receive a treatment however if you are looking to reduce an ongoing pain issue, its best to book a treatment once a week for up to 6 weeks, around week 3 or 4 you should expect to find a reduction in your pain, then the time in between treatments can be extended for maintenance treatments, which would ideally be bi-weekly or monthly.
Do I need to wear a face covering?
Yes please, on arrival you should have your facemask ready to put on to wear throughout our time together, although if you would like to take it off whilst lying face down on the massage bed, that’s absolutely fine to do so. I will wear a facemask throughout our time together.
I’m not sure if I have Covid, what should I do?
If you have tested positive for Covid or you are awaiting a test result please get in contact as soon as possible to postpone your treatment. If you are suffering from a cough, loss or change in taste/smell, or have any other flu like symptoms, no matter how mild please postpone your treatment. If you are considered higher risk from Covid please let me know prior to your treatment. You will not be liable for a last-minute cancellation fee. Gift Vouchers will be honoured past the expiry date.
